Nik collection lightroom 6 upgrade#
Photographers who already own Nik Collection 3 by DxO or a previous version can upgrade their software by signing into their customer accounts. Nik Collection 4 (Windows and macOS) is now available for download on the DxO website here for a special price of $99.99 instead of $149, and $59.99 instead of $79 for the upgrade until June 30, 2021. Really amazing - I use the Nik Collection a lot :). The interface has been cleaned up, and you can get to the tools you want to use more directly. Today Google make the entire Nik Collection of plug-ins for Lightroom and Photoshop. DxO has reduced the amount of sliders, and there are some powerful tools like the ability to change a color, of say a garment, without changing anything else. I gave the NIK Collection a spin on my iMac, and liked what I saw. The results are impressive: in just one click, users can eliminate haze, all while revealing more natural objects, edges, details, and transitions. One of the most useful tools from NIK has been Silver Efex, which is arguably the very best plugin for creating black and white images. Nik Silver Efex now includes ClearView technology, which was first offered in DxO PhotoLab. This technology removes haze and enhances local contrast. The collection is a plug-in that works with Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and Lightroom. In addition, the new Smart Copy and Paste feature lets users selectively re-apply the effect of a plugin to one or several images directly in Adobe Lightroom without having to launch the software suite’s interface. Googles Nik Collection is a set of seven editing tools. NIK Collection 4 also offers some improvements in workflow. The Last Edit function, which lets users re-apply the last preset they used in one of the Nik Collection plugins while using Adobe Photoshop, has been extended to include Adobe Lightroom Classic. It's a big leap over the earlier versions, and I think is going to be useful to many power users.

Nik Collection 4 comes with a series of 10 Meta Presets. They make it possible to edit photos by applying a series of presets from several plugins in just one click. These presets are Adobe Photoshop actions that combine the filters and settings of several Nik Collection plugins into one. The latest version also offers what are called Meta Presets. The NIK Collection contains more than 250 presets and has some improvements in its unique U Point local adjustment feature, which lets you select parts of an image without masking. Since then, DxO has actively improved the software suite, and it's being used by a lot of pros and serious amateurs. The popular NIK Collection came back from the dead when DxO rescued it from Google, which was letting it languish. Now, the ‘old’ plugins for PS and Affinity work again and PL4, when exporting to Nik Collection, shows I’m glad it was possible that way, otherwise I would have dumped Nik 4.

Grabbing a copy of Lightroom 6 will set you back around $140 and will be cheaper in the long run, but, you'll be running software from 2015.NIK Collection 4 is hitting the virtual streets today with some updated tools and some welcome changes to its GUI. Then after I installed Nik 3 ( in the same path), which (also) re-adds the replaced Viveza 2 and Silver Efex Pro 2 programs. If you're looking for other low-cost, desktop image-editing options because Nik doesn't quite do it for you, there's Affinity Photo ($50) or, you could always consider Adobe CC's photography package (Photoshop and Lightroom) for $10 a month. The Snapseed mobile app, of course, has been free for awhile now. Using Nik Collection from software like Capture One Pro, On1 Photo RAW, Luminar and so on works similar to using it from Lightroom. Perform Selective Light and Color Adjustment in Viveza (Nik Collection Tool) In Viveza, add control points on the areas on which you want to perform selective light or color adjustment, play with the sliders to get the desired result and then click on ‘Apply’ to apply the changes. Like PetaPixel notes, Google bought Nik back in 2012 and has put a lot of emphasis on the company's mobile image-editing app Snapseed since. Last March, the folks in Mountain View slashed what it was asking for the Collection from $150 to the low, low price of free ninety-nine. Want in? "We have no plans to update the Collection or add new features over time," a banner atop the Nik Collection website and help center reads. Click on the 'External Editing' tab at the top of preferences. While Lightroom is still open, click Edit> Preferences OR Lightroom > Preferences. If it does not appear to be installed, please continue to step 4. Bad news if you're a fan of the Nik Collection of free photo-editing apps: Google has announced it will stop supporting the software suite effective immediately. Open Lightroom again and look to see if the Nik Collection product is now installed under Photo > Edit In> name of product.
